This program provides advanced academic training for highly qualified professionals in the field of Economic Sciences. It prepares graduates to develop theoretical and applied analyses in teaching, research, and extension activities. It is opened to graduates in Economic Sciences or related fields, and leads to the degree of Doctor of Economic Sciences, with option to pursue concentrations in: Management, Accounting, and Economics.
OBJECTIVES
This Doctorate aims to promote original contributions to the field of Economic Sciences, with a general scope focused on the development of these disciplines, within a framework of academic excellence. Specifically, it seeks to:
a) Promote analytical study of main theoretical paradigms and models underlying the various areas of Economic Sciences.
b) Contribute to development of the disciplines by training professionals capable of generating new models or adapting existing ones to meet the needs to be solved.
c) Achieve scientific rigor and methodological competence required to lead and guide research in the different branches of Economic Sciences.
d) Encourage research and diagnostic approaches through knowledge and application of quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
e) Provide doctoral candidates with deep conceptual knowledge of different subjects, current research topics, and supporting disciplines.
f) Equip doctoral candidates with a solid conceptual understanding of a set of research tools such as research methodology, design, among others.
g) Develop the candidate’s ability to identify, structure, and conduct research, as well as to prepare academic papers for publication.
TARGET AUDIENCE
To be eligible for admission to the Doctoral program, applicants must hold a degree in economic sciences or related fields, obtained from a program of study with a minimum duration of four (4) years.
